Favourite Places

by Yvonne
I was really hoping to show you some pictures of my new ‘Spring’ inspired jewellery today, but it is a really damp drizzly day outside and the light is just not good enough to photograph it… unfortunately I don’t have a light box set up to be able to take pictures at anytime of day. Oh well.. something to put on the never ending wish list!!.

I thought that instead I would show you some pictures of one of my most favourite places. It is a gorgeous little nursery in a small village called Landscove.

I first discovered Hill House  nursery about 17/18 years ago. It has not changed much since that very first visit when my little ones spent hours running around the garden, discovering secret paths and passageways whilst I was able to spend uninterrupted  time browsing all the scrumptious plants. Apart from the little ones now being grown up and not wanting to come with me, unless bribed with a huge piece of homemade cake and a drink, the other significant change is the trolleys!! All those years ago you would park in a field, next to the country church, cross the road and enter through a rickety garden gate, and choose your trolley… always needed::never went home empty handed!! ….  which was an old pram chassis with a crate fixed to the top.. ahh those were the days!!
I bought one of these poppies whilst I was there last week… I can’t wait for the buds to pop open as all the flowers are different colours… on the same plant… red, orange, white and pink.. yummy!!
A sneek peek at one of the poppies.. stunning don’t you think?

Little paths, crammed with plants…
I couldn’t get over the colour of this little one… more inspiration..
The colours of these primulas against the painted blue pallet looked amazing…

Looking out of the tea room into the garden… ok, I admit it, I had no children that I had bribed but you cannot go and not have some homemade cake and tea in china cups and saucers!!…
can you?

As I am unable to show you what I have made today, I thought you may like to have a look at some more of the jewellery that I have been making for the Great Create at greenway Gardens
on the next bank holiday weekend…

I love these dragonfly pendants..

the colours of this fire jade are amazing

As you can see, I love these colours… actually, I just love colour full stop, which is why, when planting my pots this year, I have decided not to be colour co-ordinated, but just have a big splash of COLOUR!!…

hello… I popped by for a visit after seeing your comment on my post, and I am so happy to have found you! That nursery sounds like the perfect place to dream away an afternoon (especially over a slice of cake)… and your jewelry is simply beautiful. I wish that I was close enough to attend the Great Create; that delicious rock-candy ring would go home with me!

Thanks for popping in to my blog. I love your jewellery and the photos in your previous post made me really quite home sick. I grew up in Devon (and the Welsh borders before that) and this time of year really miss the hedges and outdoor views. Having an allotment has helped a lot with that this year but I do wish my boys could grow up running about bluebell woods and farmers fields like I did rather than playing football in a rather sterile park.

    Hi Yvonne,
Nice to meet you. Another clever person in these Devonshire parts. Must be something in our air that gets the creative juices flowing. I will try and get an email address for my friend who ran the craft fair here. Think she is doing another in August and then Christmas! x
