Sunny Sunday

by Yvonne
What an amazing weekend … constant sunshine, coffee with friends, pottering in the garden… Perfect!
And to top it all, a trip across the river Dart….

The sun was streaming down and the sky perfectly blue…

A  quick hop onto the Historic Lower Dartmouth Ferry. I love this journey… it only takes about 4 minutes but the views are spectacular…

Across towards Kingswear…  aren’t the houses gorgeous colours?

Back towards Dartmouth…

Out towards Dartmouth castle and the sea….

Here is the other ferry:: two ferries run at peak times:: not your usual ferry as this is basically a platform for the cars and a boat that pushes it along through the water..

This picture is also back towards Dartmouth but this time you can clearly make out the Naval College on the hill… It’s a stunning building….

Once over the river you can either drive towards Paignton and Torquay or Brixham… today I was off to Brixham. Here is a view across the marina back into Brixham… the sun was just beginning to set and the light is magical…

Little fishing boats and  yachts silently waiting….

My favourite beach in Torbay is Breakwater beach in Brixham… the water is really clear::probably why so many people dive from here:: Its a small stoney beach but has the most spectacular views right across the bay towards Torquay and paignton…  As you can see… there was time to sit and day dream…..

Oh…. and eat fish and chips…. yummy!!!

The breakwater separates Brixham harbour/marina from the rest of the bay and is therefore a safe haven for boats of may kinds. Here you can see the breakwater stretching away…

The beach…. Isn’t the light amazing?

Looking down the breakwater towards Paignton…

The marina….

Breakwater cafe… the best place for a coffee, with spectacular views…

Sun is going…..

Going….

Gone….

Perfect end to a perfect day…

I love Dartmouth. I wish I could live there. Mum and Dad built a house in Dittisham many years ago, and I would go into Dartmouth whenever I could. I introduced my husband to Dartmouth 29years ago when we spent our honeymoon there. Brixham is another pretty town too, and I’m sure I spent time on that quiet beach as a child when my parents took me on our annual holiday in Devon.
